Robert Maizel is a Multi Million Dollar Verdict Winning Attorney who specializes in helping clients who have Mold Exposure, Toxin Exposure and Chemical Exposure Injuries.  Most cases related to Mold Exposure, Toxin Exposure and Chemical Exposure Injuries come from Property Damage Losses that occur right in our client’s homes.  It does not matter if you rent or own the property.

Mold is a silent killer that can cause serious health problems.

If you live in Philadelphia, Montgomery County, Bucks County or Delaware County and have been exposed to mold we can help you.

Exposure to damp and moldy environments may cause a variety of health effects, or sometimes in rare cases no health issues at all. Some people are sensitive to molds. For these people, molds can cause nasal stuffiness, throat irritation, coughing or wheezing, eye irritation, or, in some cases, skin irritation. People with mold allergies or people who are sensitive to mold may have more severe reactions such as lung disease, asthma, COPD, obstructive lung disease, popcorn lung, blood disorders or even death. Immune-compromised people and people with chronic lung illnesses, such as obstructive lung disease, may get serious infections in their lungs when they are exposed to mold.

Mold Exposure is VERY SERIOUS and can cause serious permanent injuries.

Mold is found both indoors and outdoors. Mold can enter your home through open doorways, windows, vents, and heating and air conditioning systems. Mold in the air outside can also attach itself to clothing, shoes, bags, and pets can and be carried indoors.

Mold will grow in places with a lot of moisture, such as around leaks in roofs, windows, or pipes, or where there has been flooding. Mold grows well on paper products, cardboard, ceiling tiles, and wood products. Mold can also grow in dust, paints, wallpaper, insulation, drywall, carpet, fabric, and upholstery.

Many times when you have property damage, water leaks in your house, water heaters that break, floods, rain coming through your roof, rain coming in your house, windows that leak or unsealed stucco, you can develop mold in your house.  These type of property losses or property damages can cause mold to form in your house.

Just recently I handled a case for a homeowner who had a hot water heater leak in her house.  This leak caused rapid mold growth in her property.  Unfortunately, the insurance company did not properly adjust the water loss claim and failed to provide the homeowner with the Alternative Living Expenses (ALE) that she had purchased.  ALE is a contractually based purchase which the insurance carrier was required to provide to the homeowner.  Because, the homeowner could not afford to move, she was relegated to living in a home with mold; this exposure to the mold caused serious permanent injuries to the homeowner’s lungs wherein she now requires a double lung transplant.  Because of several factors we were able to secure a settlement in excess of Two Million ($2,000,000.00) dollars for this homeowner.

Although not all cases are equal, I am an experienced attorney who handles mold cases, and I have been successful in obtaining large value resolutions for clients who have been exposed to mold.

Mold, Chemicals and Toxins are very dangerous.  You must take these exposures seriously.

The Centers for Disease Control take mold exposure very seriously and offer excellent tips on how to handle mold in your house.  Do not hesitate to report water damage and mold to your insurance carrier, evacuate your house and contact us to help you take the next steps.
